I have a ‘Medical Surveillance Undertaking’ form. Do I need an exam with you? No. We can’t help you with this form. It is for people who may have tuberculosis. You need to take your form to a family physician or Public Health (call 519-575-4400), for follow up.

What method of payment can I use for my medical examination?
You can pay with Visa, MasterCard, debit, or cash.

How long does an exam take?
You will spend about 25 minutes in our office. If you also need an x-ray or a blood test, those are available at other offices in our building. Typically those tests take 30-90 minutes each.

Do you offer a reduced price for children?
Yes, we have a lower price for children age 14 and under. See our prices page.

Do you test for blood in the urine? No, IRCC no longer requires this test. Women — this means you can come for your immigration medical exam at any time of your monthly cycle.

I need a letter confirming my appointment with you. How do I get that? You can write that letter yourself, and attach our appointment confirmation email to it. IRCC tells us: “Clients are permitted to submit a letter with their application indicating that they have an IME appointment booked and they do not have to wait for proof that the IME was completed in order to submit their application.”

I already did my exam. Now IRCC wants more health information. What do I do?
IRCC has likely ‘furthered’ your file. That means you may need more investigations. Please do not book online. Email our office at info@imemed.ca. We can help with next steps.

Who sends my medical file to the government?
Your file is sent directly to the government by the doctor who did your exam. We transfer your files safely and electronically using the eMedical system.

How quickly is my file sent to the government after my appointment?
We submit your medical information as soon as we receive the results of your blood tests and chest x-ray. It's usually submitted online within one week of your appointment. You will get an email from us confirming that we have sent the file. Any abnormal results will be communicated to you.

What if I need to cancel my medical appointment?
You can cancel using the email link that was sent to you at the time of your online booking. Or call us at (519) 748-8510. There are some fees related to cancelling: check the email that you received when you booked, for details. And THANK YOU for cancelling. You have helped out someone else who is keen to get an appointment.
